The Foundation and the Hong Kong Special Olympics are jointly launching the Special Olympics Athlete Leadership Programme in May 2024. This year-and-a-half programme will provide various skills training for 30 Special Olympics athletes, including public speaking, communication skills, and leadership training. The programme aims to facilitate practical learning through training workshops, local training camps, and exchanges in the Greater Bay Area, helping athletes develop diverse skills and integrate into society.
Some activities will include family members or caregivers, fostering mutual understanding, promoting family harmony, and enhancing the athletes' mental resilience. The first exchange event occurred in October 2024, where athletes visited various institutions and locations in Macao and Zhuhai. This experience allowed them to gain deeper insights into the history and culture of both regions, as well as the latest developments in the Greater Bay Area.
