The Second Young Academy of Sciences Summit, a pivotal event fostering scientific exchange among emerging scholars from diverse regions, was organised by The Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences in collaboration with Greater Bay Area Homeland Investments Limited and the Foundation. This significant gathering, held on December 13, 2024, at the Hong Kong Science Park, attracted over 250 scholars, researchers, and members of the public. Additionally, many others participated through online livestreams, broadening the reach and impact of the event.
The opening ceremony of the Summit was graced by Professor SUN Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology, and Industry of the HKSAR Government, who also delivered a keynote speech. Other distinguished guests included Professor Dennis Lo, President of the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences; Dr Zhanghong HU, CEO of the Greater Bay Area Homeland Investments Limited; and Mr Christopher KWOK, Vice Chairman of the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation and Executive Director of Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited. The event featured an array of global speakers who shared their insights on various scientific topics and recounted their journeys in nurturing young scholars into world-class academics.
Furthermore, the Summit is set to expand its influence with three subsequent sub-conferences scheduled for February, April, and June of 2025. These sessions will delve into various cutting-edge science and technology topics, exploring the future trajectories of scientific advancement and innovation.
